The Dorchester Opportunity Group

Child painting

The Dorchester Opportunity Group was founded in 1993 in response to the need for a pre-school facility for children with special needs in the Dorchester area. The Group moved to our current premises in 1995. We are run by a Management Committee consisting of three trustees and parents members elected at our AGM held in the Autumn term.

Children attend the Group from a wide area including Weymouth, Portland, Puddletown and the Piddle Valley as well as from Dorchester and the surrounding villages.

We are registered to receive the Nursery Education Grant and charge £5 per session for those children who do not qualify for funding. We have a high adult to child ratio to ensure we can provide for each child’s specific needs. This has financial implications and we are very grateful to all the organisations who have given us grants, in particular the Big Lottery.
