Vision : Dorchester Opportunity Group is a place where children feel safe, secure and happy and where they have access to a wide range of stimulating activities so that they can grow and develop both physically and cognitively; learn about themselves and others and learn about the community in which they live so that they can become valued and useful members of that community.

We are based at the Prince of Wales Preschool Centre where we have our own playroom and outdoor space and are fortunate to have shared use of facilities including the soft play area, sensory room and hydrotherapy pool.

Our voluntary Board of Trustees manages an experienced and motivated staff team led by Manager, Nyree Gibbs.

Our regular programme includes our experienced staff helping children develop good communication skills using a range of methods including Signalong and the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), as well as music therapy, swimming in the hydrotherapy pool and gymnastics and movement sessions.

We provide a minibus collection service (subject to availability) for those who would otherwise find it difficult to access the service. along with support for parents, families and carers in the form of workshops, training and regular coffee mornings.

We received a judgement of Outstanding in all areas at our 2023 OFSTED inspection.

We work closely with other pre-schools, schools and professionals to enable a successful transition to a child’s local preschool or school when the time comes. Some children will attend both Dorchester Opportunity Group and their local preschool, on different days of the week.
